I’m not sure where to begin… bought my dress because I loved the neckline and train. Took my dress to a la mode bridal boutique because Weddings by Debbie recommended them…
First visit… 6/12/24 to have them help me with my bridal alternating. Showed them the stock pictures of the dress and tried it on. The dress in the pictures is fitted, smooth bust line and mermaid train. I am size 6, with DD bust. The dress is designed to cover my chest and is not low. The first fitting I told Laura, the top is loose and I feel I will fall out if I bend over. They recommended installing bra pads.
The second visit was 8/13/24… they installed the pads but I still felt the dress was to low and my daughter told me it looked like I was coming out of the dress more since the cups were pushing me up more now.
The third fitting.. we did the length which was good ( the only thing they did right). Still kept telling Laura my top was not comfortable with. They talked to me about the American bustle. I agreed to let them make it.
The forth fitting… 9/10/24 and 9/20/24… still not happy with the neckline and asked to remove the bra pads because I felt it looked like I was going to fall out when I bent over.
Laura removed them with scissors ( they were not sewn in secure enough) . Still felt it looked like I was hanging out if I bend over but much better than the bra pads. The bustle was done but they added weird buttons to the back making. It look like an arrow. I asked her about it and she said that’s the way they do it. ( this took away from the straight line of button that I loved about the train) now it looks like an arrow pointing to my butt… (see picture)
My daughter dress:
They lined the top so it would not itch her, and took the dress in. I told them it was hard to remove over her head now and she said it felt too tight. I asked them to remove the sides they took in back to the original size so my daughter felt comfortable. They told me that they would. They let out some but the dress was still hard to pull over her head due to the sides being tight. My daughter was already upset and just said to leave it. They charged me almost $500 dollars to alter a $50 dress. I wish they would not have touched the sides and only hemmed it. She worn it for 15 minutes and cried to take it off because she couldn’t breathe at my wedding.
Final fitting.. 10/2/24 ( days before my wedding) they had both our dresses now for 5 months. Wedding day 10/5/24 in Austin. I am traveling 10/4/24. I am still not excited about the neckline of my dress and it feels like the dress straps are looser now that the cups are gone. Laura tells me it looks great. What do I do… I can’t take it anywhere else it’s been here and I trust her professional judgment.
My wedding day… my mom and friends tell me when I am trying on the dress minutes before I walk down the isle.. my dress straps or the front of my dress looks bad and if I bend over it will not be good. So we all agree to use a clear hair tie to hold the straps together to help the neckline.
I wore the dress like this, didn’t do pictures of the back.. because it was rigged.
Messaged Laura the next day after my wedding and she said you didn’t mention anything about the being unhappy with the dress… and showed her the back of the dress strapped.
This is one of the most special occasions for a bride and I paid almost $1,000 dollars for a professional to alter the dress to fit me.
10/24/24 … Susie Alterations
I have now taken it to another alteration place where they looked at the dress and in 30 minutes pinned it and sized it to fit me properly like the dress should have been done.
All this so I can take my wedding photos over in the dress I should have been in pictures on my original wedding day.
I text Laura the pictures and videos of the new alterations and told her she needed to refund me the amount they are charging me to fit her mistakes. $485 is what the new cost is …
Since 10/24/24 … Laura has never replied back to me about making this right.
