First time eating here and it will not be the last .the food is is delicious homemade you don’t find Old school family owned restaurants in Austin any longer all you get is these pop up that don’t know what real Mexican food is, Family owned and old school stuff tortillas were beyond. They were so hot. We couldn’t eat them fresh from the grill, can’t say enough for everything else. The service was great ..

2nd time visiting Mama Betty’s! They did not disappoint! We ordered house margaritas and enchiladas and crispy tacos. I was so excited and please with my margarita that I didn’t even think to take pictures of our amazing meal. Jason C, the waiter (not the owner) was especially personable and went above and beyond to make our dining experience pleasurable. Can’t wait to come back!

Cool restaurant to visit, really nice atmosphere. Lots of families and there was a large outdoor patio and a place for kids to play. The chips and salsa were good. I had Tortilla soup and it was ok after I added salt. It definitely needed more spices.

This place is an A+, 10 out of 10 establishment. They're crazy busy, so expect a wait. The food is also fresh, so expect it to take a bit to come out. Don't be in a hurry. It'll be worth it, though.

The chips are good, the salsa is pretty zingy but doesn't keep hot after a swish of beverage, and the green salsa is a little too salty if I'm honest, not spicy at all - we added a little lime juice and it was decadent.

The food is, without a doubt, the best Mexican food I've ever experienced. The beef fajitas are essentially a perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, perfectly tender steak filet in a steaming skillet. I opted for the added jalapeños and peppers, which is an incredible combination.

The kids got a quesadilla (La Victoria), and the crunchy beef taco (La Audrey). They ate their entire plates. The wait staff watched our table the many times the kiddos had to use the restroom. The outdoor area is also fantastic for kids to run around and burn some energy. They pass the kid tests with flying colors!

Wait staff is on top of things all around. Special thanks to the bartender for getting the kids drinks while we waited for a table. Waiter even got me a to-go cup. Big thanks!

The food and service here is excellent! Margaritas are mandatory here :p. We came here during cold, rainy weather and they have a covered patio that can also be enclosed. The patio also had good working heaters so we were cozy. We will definitely recommend this establishment.

This place is fantastic! Our waiter was a trip. He was so nice, funny, quick, attentive, witty, and wonderful! And oh my god that drink was one of the best margaritas I’ve had in years!! My friend and I both ordered the La Playa and I sucked that thing down so fast my head was spinning. My first bite into the chips and I was disappointed but then I kept eating them and realized they were heaven. Great food, atmosphere, and workers. I can’t wait to come back here on my next trip to Austin!

Today we visited Mama Betty’s Tex-Mex y Cantina for a dinner, party of 14, and while the service was absolutely amazing, the food unfortunately fell short of expectations. Our server was incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful throughout the evening, ensuring our large group was well taken care of. The level of service was truly commendable and made the experience enjoyable on that front.

However, the food was a real disappointment this time. Having dined here before, we were expecting the same delicious quality that we’ve come to love, but something seemed off tonight. The flavors weren’t as vibrant, and some dishes just didn’t meet the standard we’ve experienced in the past. It left us wondering what might have changed.

We still appreciate the hospitality and hope this was just an off night in the kitchen. Mama Betty’s has been a favorite for us in the past, and we’d love to see it return to the amazing quality we know it can deliver.

Very good restaurant. We’ve been several times, and never disappointed. Food is fresh and hot, service is fantastic, and drinks are mixed perfectly.
Mia, our server, was the most pleasant and friendly person we’ve met thus far! Very attentive and quick, as well as being aware of any needs while we dined.
